The late children Melissa Hortman And her husband Mark Hortman talks about the deaths of her parents.
Hortmans were shot and killed in what Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Called a “politically motivated murder” on Saturday, June 14.
In a statement obtained by people on Monday, June 16, Sophie and Colin Hortman wrote: “We are destroyed and heartbroken at the loss of our parents, Melissa and Mark. They were the bright lights in the middle of our lives, and we can’t believe they are gone. Their love for us was boundless. We miss them so much.”
“We want everyone to know that we are both safe and with loved ones,” they continued. “We are grateful for the outflow of love and support we have received, and we appreciate your respect for our family’s integrity when we mourn.”

The statement then referred to the two -day manhunt that led to the catch of alleged pistolman Vance Boelter. Boelter was accused of two bills of murder at second degrees and two bills of murder at second degrees, showed the criminal complaint, according to Reutants. Federal Prosecutors also accused him of pursuing and murdering Hortmans and pursuing and shot Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman And his wife Yvette Hoffman.
“Our family wants to thank law enforcement for their rapid measures that saved others and for the coordination between communities that led to the arrest of the man who murdered our parents,” Sophie and Colin Hortman continued. “We especially want to thank the officers who were first on stage to our parents’ homes and their heroic attempts to save our mother and father.”
Siblings praised their parents’ legacy in Minnesota, siblings wrote: “Our parents touched so many lives, and they leave an incredible legacy of devotion to their society that will live on in us, their friends, their colleagues and employees and every individual who knew and loved them.”

They also encouraged the members of the community to honor their parents’ memories. “If you want to honor the memory of Mark and Melissa, think about the following: Plant a tree. Visit a local park and use its amenities, especially a bicycle track. Pet a dog. A golden retriever is ideal, but everyone will do,” they said. “Tell your loved ones a cheesy dad joke and laugh about it. Bake something – bread for ground or a cake for Melissa, and share it with someone. Try a new hobby and enjoy learning something. Set up for what you believe in, especially if it is justice and peace.”

Siblings concluded about their statement, “Hope and resilience are fear the enemy. Our parents lived their lives with enormous commitment to their fellow human beings. This tragedy must be a moment for us to meet. Keep your loved ones a little closer. Love your neighbors. Treat each other with kindness and respect.
