A young woman says she has not talked to her mother after admitting to stealing a potted plant with sentimental value.

In a post RedditThe 22-year-old woman said the problem arose during her parents’ first visit to her new apartment, her first since she moved out of their home.

After dinner, the woman said she noticed that a pot plant she got from her late partner had suddenly disappeared. She went on to explain that the potted plant was “the last thing he gave me for my birthday” before his death last year – and that it was the kind of plant that can “survive a lot forever if you take care of it.”

After searching for half an hour, the young woman became “suspicious.” She then called her parents and said that her mother seemed very Cagey when asked about the plant’s place of residence.

Eventually, the young woman said that her mother gave up and admitted that “she filled it in the handbag” and took it home.

The young woman “was cursed” with her mother and “demanded” she returned the plant. But she claimed that her mother repeatedly said, “It’s not a big deal, darling,” and “it’s just a plant.”

“I haven’t talked to her since, and I’ve really considered going there and giving her a bit of my mind,” she wrote. “But at the end of the day it’s a plant and she collects them, plus, that’s my mom.”

But many comments agreed with the young woman’s frustrations.

“Get the plant. Cut off the mother,” wrote a person. “From what you said about” getting away from your parents “may be time.”

Another commentator agreed that the mother is stealing the plant “is definitely a big deal.”

“It’s totally bonkers to steal another’s plants. Even if you collect them,” they added. “She knew exactly what she was doing, and my guess is that it is a long pattern of mental abuse from your family. Go there, take back the plant and tell them you need some space from them.”

A third commentator said, “It’s not just about” a plant “. It’s about stealing a special affiliation and lie. Go there and demand it back. Tell them that they are never allowed in your apartment again.”

After reading through the supportive comments, the young woman thanked her colleagues for the support and wrote: “I really consider going there and taking it back.” Many encouraged her to accompany that impulse.

“Don’t think about it, do it,” wrote a commentator. “That facility has sentimental value to you and you can’t put a price on it or just reject the action because it was your mom. I’m sorry for your loss and that she did it against you.”

Added another: “If you do not resist this behavior, she will not hesitate to do so in the future. It may seem like an insignificant object to others, but it is very important to you, and you should tell her. She is completely disrespect to take from someone’s home.”
