After a five -year interruption, Copeland will take the stage for a final performance on October 22, 2025, for a night entitled “A Celebration Honoring Misty Copeland.” The evening will take place at David H. Koch theater in the Lincoln Center and will include performances of Copeland and other dancers. There will also be speeches and video giving in Copeland over the years.

Caroline Kennedy and Oprah Winfrey will serve as honorary chairs that evening, Associated Press reported.

“Misty is once in the generation artist whose brilliance exceeds the stage,” said Jaffe according to the Instagram post. “Her heritage at ABT is in -depth – not only through the roles she is redefined but also through the lives she is inspired. Misty’s advocates for inclusion, capital and education ensure that her impact will reason far beyond this moment.”

“It’s been 25 years at ABT, and I think it’s time,” Copeland said in a statement to the AP about her pension. “It’s time for me to move to the next step.”

She added, “You know, I have become the person I am today and have every opportunity I have today, because of ballet, (and) because of American ballettater. I feel that this is I who say thanks to the company. So it is a goodbye. (Men) It will not be the end of me to dance. … never say.”
