Cunningham was then alleged from the party with the 21-year-old man as handcuffs in his rear seat and stopped by HSCO during a traffic stop shortly thereafter, per outlet. Cunningham had his Prichard Police brand and weapons on him, according to the authorities, WKRG reported.

While Cunningham was not arrested at that time, a commander was later issued for his arrest of HSCO, which stipulated that he had illegally detained the other man and that his actions technically constituted kidnapping, Per WKRG.

HSCO also publishes a commander for Kristin Allen, a passenger who went with Cunningham at the time they say helped to create and tell about different versions of events to the authorities and hindered prosecution, according to the outlet.

Cunningham was finally located and was arrested on a Disney outway on June 3. Allen turned to the Mississippi authorities on June 2, according to WKRG.

Prichard County Police Department – Cunningham’s employer at the time of May incident – released a statement regarding Cunningham’s arrest, Fox 10 reported. In the statement, they claim that they became aware of Cunningham’s involvement in the incident outside the state on June 2.

“We are currently waiting for an investigation report from Harrison County Sheriff’s Office to gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances. It has been noted that Officer Cunningham is running a city vehicle over state lines at the time of the incident, which is a potential violation of department policy,” it says in Fox 10.

“In response, our department has launched an internal investigation to review all policies that may have been violated in connection with this situation. We take these issues seriously and have undertaken to ensure full liability and openness throughout the process,” added the police department.
