Sophia Bush details alleged physically and emotional abuse on TV show set in conversation with Monica Lewinsky

Sophia Bush Talks about a toxic work environment and the alleged trauma that she endured as a result.

On Tuesday, June 3, the episode of Recycling with Monica LewinskyBush, 42, recalled to join a television series after her nine-year run on teenage drama One Tree Hillwhich was packed in 2012.

While she did not directly name the TV series, she shared that it was on her “Hink list.” But she suffered “all kinds” of abuse on the set, with “some old enough to be (her) father.”

“When I look back at it, I had the opportunity after two years to go,” Bush explained. “I did what I learned to do and said, ‘I will not have my privacy reduced by someone else’s behavior. I will be unchanging. I will come to work and do my job.’ And I couldn’t. ”

She remembers that she woke up in “Physical Hell”, with a “spontaneous illness” and was “covered with hives.” Bush said during this time that her weight also fluctuated and she experienced hair loss.

“As an extrovert who loves people, being affected by anxiety in such a way that I could barely be out of the house; if people moved in public, I would jump out of my skin,” she recalled. “I couldn’t talk to people anymore. I couldn’t talk to strangers anymore. I couldn’t look anymore, especially in the work environment.”

Bush said she was being defensive when she worked with the series, something she had never experienced before. “Since I had to go to work ready for war all the time, I had to learn where I would stand not to be elbowed in the ribs or how to block a scene not to be touched. It was just exhausting,” she claimed.

The actress said she could not leave the show until April 2017, a few months before #Metoo movement Started. “In October (2017) I got a call from an executive an apologize for what they had done and had not done,” she said. “And (they) said:“ We are very aware that we just did it out of the undamaged. ”

She opened about her departure from the series in December 2017 and told Raffinaderia 29S Adamant Podcast that she got two options: change her environment or have her character written off. “That’s when I realized I had drowned. That’s when I knew how miserable I would work every day,” Bush recalled at that time. “I had to respect myself in a situation where I did not feel respected.”
