A bride is worried that she may be wrong to cancel her wedding to Elope instead.

On one post At Reddit’s “Wedding” forum, the bride explained to be, 24, that when she got engaged she was initially “down to make a big wedding”, but her feelings immediately changed the following month when she was accepted to the medical school.

“I realized (I would) rather shift my focus and the money I saved to pay for compartment and to reduce the financial burden to take out loans,” she wrote.

School starts this fall, and the bride is already worried about how much teaching costs. She thought that wedding planning and expenses would only aggravate things, so that eloping could be a more practical alternative for her and her hubby.

“(I would) much rather now elope or even (have) a nice elopement in Europe that is like $ 7,000 instead of spending $ 40-70K at a wedding here now,” said the New York-based bride. “So then the remaining money I can use at the medical school and FH’s (future spouse) can go to housing and other things.”

The groom is not on the same page as the bride. He is “upset”, especially because he knows that not having a traditional wedding would drop mom.

“Elopement is not what his mother’s dream for him is and it will make her very sad,” came Redditor remembers that her hubby told her.

The groom mom is just “willing to pay as 10%” of the wedding costs.

“I just can’t stomach with 90% of our money for the rest when I know in the long run I can use them at school,” shared the bride in a comment.

Although the bride understands where her hubby comes from, she refuses to fold.

“I told him that I get it but I don’t want to give up a chance to become a doctor just for one night to feed 200 people anymore,” she rationed.

This is not a good reason for the groom, who claims, “It’s selfish.”

The groom tried to compromise to suggest having “a small wedding”, but it is still not small enough for the bride.

“After he has done his numbers, his definition of” small “90 people is only on his side … who will still end up in the ten thousands,” said the bride.

She asked the forum: “I’m conflict, am I crazy for this?”

In the comment section, the bride said that an alternative would be for her to “give up with the school completely” because she already has another career, but feels that it would not be “fair”.

Most Reddit users advised the bride to put her finances and education first.

“Don’t get married about this man if he is willing to let you give up at the compartment to make his mother happy for one night. Ordinary and simple,” commented a person. “You are young. There are literally billions of other men on the planet. I promise you, there is at least one that you will love and who would not ask this about you.”

“I have never met anyone who wished they had spent more money at their wedding. Spend what you can afford,” another Redditor agreed.

Some Redditors even suggested that the bride re -evaluate her relationship.

“You really want to spend the rest of your life and be legally linked to someone who would sacrifice your career and spend your savings just to please their mother for a day?” An individual questioned. “Yes, I would think about this if I were you.”
