College Freshman, 18, dies during the Lake Havasu trip with Brotherhood: Reports

An 18-year-old California State University, Fullerton student died during a visit to Lake Havasu with his brotherhood, according to several reports.

Simon T. Daniel from Pinole, California, disappeared when he swam in the Copperjoområd approximately 15 local time on Saturday, May 17, The Los Angeles Times reported, with reference to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. He had entered the water together with three members of the Sigma Pi brotherhood and visited the Sorority members.

“Unaware of them recently had heavy rain in the Havasu Valley region significantly increased the water flow and created hazardous conditions including strong currents, crosswinds and swelling,” according to one Facebook post by Sigma Pi brotherhood.

“When the group was in need, several brotherhood members risked heroically their own lives to save all six students,” continued the post. “Tragically, Simon was swept away by a sudden wave that separated him from one of the rescuers. He disappeared under the water.”

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department collaborated with other agencies to search for Daniel, with divers, sonar and a remote -controlled vehicle (prey) until the darkness fell, ABC 7The Ktlaand CBS news reported.

His body was found around 08:54 the next morning, per Los Angeles Timeswith reference to officials.

Over 200 students participated in a bright thief in his memory later that day, and the university announced via the Sigma Pi -brother’s Facebook page that those affected by Daniel’s death can access their counseling services.

“Simon was a computer science major, a proudly initiated member of Sigma PI brotherhood and a respected leader on Campus,” the Brotherhood said at FacebookReturned that he was “known for his love for music, boundless energy and friendly spirit. He was the heart of the Brotherhood – genuine, happy and someone who brightened every room with his brilliant smile.”

Share pictures of Daniel along with Facebook postthey wrote, “Simon is survived by his mother and a society by loved ones who deeply mourn his loss.”

The brotherhood urged everyone to be “respectful and thoughtful” when discussing the tragedy as “we grief this deep loss together.”
