Utah man is alleged to have his girlfriend and her family hostage for 6 months

A 23-year-old man was arrested on 28 charges after he is alleged to have terrorized a Millcreek, Utah, family for almost six months, according to the commitment obtained by People.

Dominic Garcia was booked in Salt Lake County prison on Saturday, May 17 for 28 total alleged crimes, including seven bills of aggravated abuse, seven counts of aggravated kidnappings, seven bills of threats of violence and seven bills to have involved the use of a dangerous weapon, according to the court documents.

Greater Salt Lake police officers responded to a call from a Millcreek home that a man and his six family members had been held against their will by his pregnant daughter’s boyfriend, Garcia. The complainant, called “RS” in the pledge, told the authorities that they kept Garcia on weapons because they “couldn’t take it anymore.”

On the arrival of the authorities, they found Garcia on weapons. He was taken into custody without incident. The family was then interviewed by detective.

Garcia started living with the family in December 2024, after the family is alleged to have allowed him to move into their home. Garcia said to the family, “almost immediately”, that his family was part of a company with tape to a cartel. He said to the family “to stay on the good side of the cartel”, they had to do what Garcia said, according to reality.

Allegedly, Garcia told “repeatedly that the cartel would kill them if they didn’t do what they heard.” RS bought a gun from the protection and then Garcia started to carry around the home and finally scare the family.

Then, one day, Garcia said that his family had done a bad business, and he and the victims had to leave home for over a month. But when they returned, one of the family members texted called “HS”, a friend who explained their disappearance. Garcia saw the text and answered immediately by threatening to kill the family if they went out of the line.

Garcia then forced HS allegedly alleged to a “starting camp”, which included five workouts a day at any time of the day. HS was also forced to make an ice bath and had to keep his face underwater to not be able to breathe.

As a result, he monitored the family members’ phones and limited that could leave home and for a maximum of two hours per person.

Another family member, called AS, told the authorities that she only left home three times after returning from their month -long disappearance. She was also told to stand guard until 05:30 every night.

Seventeen -year -old family member, “TS”, missed a month of her high school and “was extremely scared and believed her life was in danger.”

Garcia’s pregnant girlfriend, “KS,” Garcia said threat to kill her and her family on “many occasions.” Garcia “also suffocated his pets on occasions when he was upset and had been violent against her sister HS.”

After his arrest and informed about his Miranda rights, Garcia admitted to having the Bärt gun, HS put through the starting camp and that all claims about the cartel were lies. He said he “didn’t know how to stop it in fear that they wouldn’t like him.”

Garcia is currently held without bail.

The business included arguments for incorrect accusations that would be submitted and claimed that Garcia is an air risk and could flee to his family in Mexico.

The business says the family believes that Garcia “is still a danger to them and will come after them if he is released from prison”, and several family members believe there is still a chance that the cartel can kill them.
