The woman lived with remains of 600 pounds. ‘MUMIFIED’ SON FOR 9 MONTHS

A woman in New Orleans is investigated after the authorities were told that she had lived in her Lakeview home with the remains of her 600 kg. mummified the son for nine months.

The woman was identified as a “mentally disabled older woman” named Barbara Hainsworth, Nola.com reported, with reference to a quotation submitted to the city’s healthy home administration.

Her home was reportedly “filled with debris, chickens, roosters, rats” when the code companies’ investigators with the city of New Orleans found her son’s remains on Thursday, May 15.

Public records showed that neighbors made several complaints to the city when it comes to home when debris was built up and drew pests, according to WDSU. Hainsworth was a former doctor who got his medical license recalled about a decade ago.

When officers with the New Orlean police department arrived at their home and asked about the rotting dead body in her home, she reportedly said: “That’s my son. He died about nine months ago.”

His name was not released in public, but Hainsworth reportedly told the police that he suffered from several medical conditions.

Code management condemned the home as a health risk, but there are reportedly no plans to demolish it right now.

The agency became aware of the property’s terms on May 7 by a member of the New Orleans Health Department, WDSU reported.

“An investigator of the code’s enforcement was immediately sent to the property. DCE’s investigation revealed terrible conditions, including the remains of a mummal body and evidence of extreme hamstring conditions, along with piles of debris in and around the property,” read a statement.

“DCE informed his demolition contractor about being in readiness to perform an assessment to clear and remove the trash and seal the hole in the bathroom floor. The property was also scheduled to board the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD),” continued the statement.

On May 6, just a day before the agency became aware of the extreme conditions, Hainsworth “fined $ 6,125 and the property was declared as a general inconvenience,” Per WDSU.

A mobile crisis unit was sent to get the homeowner to get an evaluation of mental health. She has not been accused of any crimes or arrested, and the investigation remains ongoing.

NOPD did not immediately respond to people’s request for comment.
