A woman planned a surprising birthday celebration for her husband and went on her phone to get some of her friends contact details to send out invitations. When she opened her group chat, she was “frightened” by what she found.
She shared her story in a post on the British Community forum Mumnet.comrevealed that she saw some “horrible” messages her husband wrote about her.
“What I read was in line with” I’m stuck in a miserable marriage, I wish I could have a deal, but she will take all my money and I wouldn’t have anywhere to live or have anyone over, she can keep my son, I just want to keep my money, “wrote OP (original poster).
To make things worse, she added, was that her husband’s friends were “employees in her answers”, and described it as a losing situation. “
OP said she also saw “lots of messages about” hot mom friends “and referred to other women and their appearance and romanticism about ex-girlfriends, with reference to a sliding door’s moment and then end up with me.”

She even found a picture that her husband took of a woman he saw in public and thought was “so hot.”
“It’s really degrading and disrespectful to me,” she wrote.

OP said that when she found the first series of messages, she couldn’t help but dig deeper – and she made even more shocking discoveries.
“I found messages to friends where DH has lied about me, made up things that I have probably said, to make me look bad,” she wrote. “I have been a Sahm (at home) for five years and he complains that I do not contribute financially to his friends, means that I am lazy, useless and never do anything.”
For OP, the messages were eye -opening and showed her that “there is a level of contempt against me.”
“It is clear that he does not see us as equally partners, does not value my contribution at home,” she said. “It is also frustrating because much of what he said is not true. He controls a story about me that is not true.”
OP shared that since she found the messages “she sat on it” for three weeks while she made “a plan to leave” her husband.

“I don’t think it will come back from this,” she admitted. “I haven’t confronted him because I know I shouldn’t have looked at his phone.”
In the comments, readers sympathized with the woman’s situation and agreed that her relationship with her husband probably cannot be saved. They also urged her to get her financial and legal affairs in order to prepare a divorce.
“How completely heartbreaking. What a terrible thing to read,” wrote a person. “As you say, everything is now about leaving this work. Seek legal advice and loosen emotionally from this creep. Ducks in a row. You deserve better!”

Another said, “You don’t deserve his treatment of you – he’s wrong here. Now, copies of the messages and all financial documents, talk to a lawyer and start saving money.”
A commentator even offered a proposal for how OP could confront her husband about the messages she found.
“I would arrange (birthday) party and have a slideshow showing all the quotes from his messages on a big screen in front of their friends and their wives. Would be fantastic,” they wrote.
