A Colorado mom is in mourning after her daughter and husband died after a deadly crash last week.
Brian Cirbo, 38, and his stepdaughter, Brooklyn Lopeman, 12, were in a deadly crash on Tuesday, April 15 in Thornton, Colo Brian gave in to his injuries that day. Brooklyn died on Tuesday, April 22, Thornton Police Department announced on Thursday, April 24.
A 17-year-old boy crashed his BMW in Brian’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which the couple went after leaving Brooklyn’s volleyball exercise.
“Many of her teammates saw it,” told Brooklyn’s mother, Devin Lopeman Cirbo, to CBS Colorado. “Brooklyn did not breathe and they did CPR, but Brian could talk and he continued to tell the officers to call his wife, and they told me to come.”
When Devin arrived at the hospital, Brian had died. Brooklyn was put on life support at Children’s Hospital and was taken by it on April 22.
“Her helmet was on all the time, but because of how she met, there was disastrous swelling in the brain,” explained Devin of her daughter’s injuries.
“We work with Donor Alliance, and they work to find people she can help, and we will take her from life support for the next 24 hours,” Devin told CBS Colorado before Brooklyn’s death.

The Teen driver, who has not been identified in public, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving which resulted in death. He has since been released. An investigation is ongoing.
“They work with people with accidents to find out what exactly happened,” Devin told CBS Colorado. “I know the child who met them was there on the spot. He stopped. He called 911.”
“I know this child didn’t try to ruin my family, but he didn’t see them,” she said. “And the only way he didn’t see them is that he didn’t see. People have to look for bikes.”

“It was so much joy. They were both complete joy,” said Devin. “I think they couldn’t have survived losing each other. That’s why I lost them both.”
“He loved to sing. He loved to dance. He was everyone’s biggest fan. Having his children was the light in his life. He embraced my children as his own,” Devin said of his husband, who was a retired firefighter.
“She has only the most amazing smile. She has the most amazing soul,” Devin noted about her young daughter. “We would still have a whole life, and now it’s gone.”
