First responder in Minnesota assumes kitten as he saved from a fire

A first response to Minnesota not only saved a kitten’s life but also gave it an eternal home.

In February, the Coon Rapids Community Service Officer Eric Prindle responded to a grass fire that started at a homeless camp in Coon Rapids, Minn. Upon arrival was found a small injured kitten, which belonged to one of the people at the camp, in the field.

“I went and looked at it and realized we had to get this thing right away,” Prindle told Fox9 In an interview published on Monday, April 21.

He then took the cat, named JJ, to Animal Human Society in Coon Rapids to ensure that he would survive the eye injuries and severe facial combustions. JJ’s whiskers and some of the ears were burned off.

Prindle acknowledged that when he drove to the animal’s human society, he thought to himself, “” Please were not dead in my back seat, “he told Fox9adds, “and then I saw that he was alive.”

“It was one of the situations where I was very concerned that he would not,” said the animal’s humane society veterinarian Dr. Kate Farmer. “He was a kind of long shot, but we wanted to give him a chance.”

During JJ’s recovery, Prindle continued to visit the kitten, because “he just touched me,” Prindle said.

When JJ became stronger, Prindle and his wife adopted the kitten and brought him into his new eternal home, where “he adjusts really well,” Prindle said.

“Looking at his progress throughout the thing was just fantastic,” Prindle told Fox9.

JJ still needs ointment around his scars, but his whiskers start to grow back, and he begins to live life as a normal cat – and get along with Prindle’s dog, Twinkie.

“It was actually fantastic to see his remarkable ability to heal and his emotional resilience to get through something that must have been horrible,” the farmer said.
