TikTok on Thursday said it will set restrictions on state aid to counteract the acts of foreign influence on the platform.

The move is coming after the United States handed the tictoc an ultimatum Disposing their Chinese owners or meeting a potential ban in the US market based on concerns that the app can be used to influence Americans.
According to Tiktok’s new policy, state -affiliated media that are trying to reach communities outside their home country at “current global events and business” will be prevented from showing up on the platform’s personal “for you” flow.
In addition, if these accounts advertise on Tiktok, they will not be allowed to do so “outside the country to which they are primarily connected,” the company said.
TikTok defines state -affiliated media as those “whose editorial production or decision -making process is subject to control or influence from a government.”
TikTok interferes with the networks ‘that are trying to influence political discourse’
Tiktok also revealed that during the first four months of 2024, it identified and disturbed 15 influence operations and 3,001 associated accounts.
“We found that a majority of these networks tried to influence the political discourse among their target group, including in relation to elections,” the company said in a blog statement.
As an example, Tiktok quoted to disturb a network aimed at Indonesians before the country’s presidential election earlier this year, and another “artificial reinforcing stories” about the domestic political discourse in Britain.
