Pierce Brosnan shares its top requirement for the next James Bond.

The former Bond star, 71, said it was a “given” that the next actor who produces the iconic film character must be British in a new interview with the British newspaper Telegraph.

Brosnan played Bond from 1995 to 2002 before English actor Daniel Craig Took over the role in the British spy franchise 2006. Craig, 57, appeared for the last time as the character in 2021.

Brosnan’s comments come after British actors Aaron Taylor-JohnsonThe Regé-jeanThe Josh O’ConnorThe Joe AlwynThe Theo James and Idris Elba Has all been rumored to play Bond next.

On February 20th it was announced to Amazon MGM Studios would take over creative control of bond projects in a new joint venture with long -term bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

Brosnan said that the new direction for the long -standing franchise took “great courage” from the producers Broccoli and Wilson and added that it was “the right decision.”

“In this world that moves so fast now, at the speed of light, (take over) comes with a certain complaint,” he told Telegraph. “I thought it would come for a while I guess, but I think it was the right decision for Barbara and Michael.”

“It takes great courage for them to let go. They will still say in questions. I hope that (Amazon) handles the work and character with dignity and imagination and respect, ”added Brosnan.

Speaking of his time to play Bond, he said: “I am very proud to have been part of the story and the legacy of Bond and the films I did with Barbara and Michael. That we moved the needle, that we revived it. “

Brosnan said in a new interview that he would love to return as Bond one day.

“Of course, how could I not be interested?” he told me GQ. “But it’s a sensitive situation now. I think it’s best to leave sleeping dogs, really. I think so. It’s a pretty romantic idea and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart.”

“I think it’s best left for another man, really,” he added. “Fresh blood.”
