Ashanti Is not afraid to admit that it takes a village to raise a child.
In an exclusive interview with People, the singer and actress, 44, say she has loved her time as a new mother to her 7 month old son KaremkenidNickname KK, with husband NellyAnd she is already planning forward when it comes to being a working parent.
“It will be my first time that goes (on tour) as a mother,” says Ashanti. “Of course we need extra hands. It will definitely be extra bags, because I am already traveling with too much luggage.”
“But (we will be) much more aware of time and (spend more time) prepare, because you just know never what will happen,” she adds.

In most of April, Ashanti will be at Bring it on tour over the UK and Ireland with Sean Paul and Fat Joe.
She will later join R&B Forever Tour With Ginuwine, Tyrese and more in Brooklyn the same month, and the “stupid” singer will then go to California in early May to join FabulousThe LloydAnd others for a single concert in one night.

With Baby KK that comes on the road with her, says Ashanti to plan every day and have a fixed schedule will be super advantageous.
“(I will be) Cognizant of Time and my surroundings, obviously not to have many people in and out, not let people come in with shoes on, just bacteria and that type,” she explains. “I’m definitely in Mama Bear Protective Mode and want to protect the child.”

Luckily ashanti says her “mom” – what she calls her mother Tina Douglas – will be there to provide help.
“Momager doesn’t play any games. She calls herself Tima. Not grandma, Tima. Because her name is Tina. So Tima will be there,” she tells people with a laugh.

All in all, Ashanti says that she has done well when she continues to adapt to life as a mother.
“Everything is healed, I’m healthy, nothing crazy,” she says. “It just feels good to be able to just move and carry my child, and, you know, make features. It’s a beautiful thing.”
“The one I will say is that I really have to cut out the time to really go hard in the gym and come back there and come back to do what I do,” she adds though.
