New York police are investigating after a shooter opened fire in a shopping center – and the incident was caught on video.
On Saturday, March 1, the State Police in New Hartford, new – located east of Syracuse – said that several shots were fired at Sangertown Square Mall about 12:45 local time, according to The Observer-dispatch and Wktv.
On one statementThe State Police said that law enforcement officials, including the new Hartford Police Department, are still searching for the suspect.
Security camera films of the event obtained by TMZ Shows the moment the shot rang and people inside a hairdresser in the mall reacted quickly. In the video, people in the salon can be seen and look around as the first shots rang, unsure what happened. Then they all started running for coverage.
A woman can even be heard to encourage her child, and the couple reunited before they quit the salon and hugged each other. Others apparently fled on the back of the store and tried to hide from the possible shooter.

“At this time, a male victim has been identified but is cooperative with investigators. Out of caution, the mall is evacuated,” the police wrote in its statement and adds, “this is not an active shooting situation.”
According to Observer-dispatch, The injured man was taken to Wynn Hospital for treatment. New Hartford Town Supervisor Paul Miscione also told the outlet that the authorities do not yet know the motive behind shooting.
“We don’t know why this happened yet, but law enforcement is currently investigating each camera,” Missione said. He also told the outlet that the shooter was not yet in custody, but that this was not a random incident.
The New Hartford Police did not immediately respond to people’s request for further information.

In a Facebook post, the Miscione local community members advised to stay away from the mall when the police are still investigating.
“First of all, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his families. We are deeply saddened by this meaningless act of violence,” Missione wrote in the post. “The security and security of our residents remains a top priority, and we have undertaken to ensure that those responsible for this law are held responsible.”
