Tyriq Withers Dreams of Starring in ‘High School Musical’ Sequel (Exclusive)

Think Tyriq Withers sing and dance to a classic High School Musical song when he was just a little boy in elementary school.

The 27-year-old actor revealed to PEOPLE in an exclusive conversation on 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards on Nov. 3 that he did just that.

“I actually performed (‘We’re All in This Together’) for my fifth grade talent show … and it’s been a dream of mine to bring (High School Musical) back, so you never know,” Withers said of the 2006 musical film during the New York City event at the American The Natural History Museum.

Asked if he would play in one High School Musical sequel if the movie series ever came back, the HIM and I know what you did last summer star says, “There is no hesitation when that question is presented to me.”

The subject of High School Musical appeared at the CFDA Fashion Awards when Withers described her personal style with just one song.

“How about the song ‘We’re All in This Together,'” he says while singing and humming part of the popular sing-along song, “because I’m just doing my best and it takes a village to make a good fashion statement.”

IN High School Musicalthe characters played by Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeelamong others, performing the song in a packed gym after Efron’s Troy Bolton made a game-winning shot in a basketball game. The segment features a viral dance break.

At the CFDA Fashion Awards, Withers also revealed who he thinks is the sexiest fashion icon alive right now.

Colman Domingo — 150,000%, Withers tells PEOPLE of The running man actor. “Shout-out, Colman Domingo. I’ve met him, I’ve got his number, we’re going for coffee, so yeah, I’m a big fan.”

He adds, “Colman’s performance in Sing Sing, if you haven’t seen it, you need to. But him as a human being, as a person, and I also love when you see him, he probably has the best fit in the building.

“And beyond that, he greeted me with such acceptance and love and always appreciated it,” Withers emphasizes.
