Oscar winner Angela Bassett just took his best runway to Vogue World: Hollywood.
On Sunday, October 26, Bassett made a surprise appearance at the fourth annual fashion event in the original outfit worn by her character Queen Ramonda from Black Panther franchise.
The actress, 67, wore the same dress as her character from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wearing at a United Nations meeting in Geneva – but this time she slipped on the elaborate number to float down the Paramount Pictures Studios runway in Los Angeles to the delight of the crowd.

The dress was designed by industry icon Ruth E. Carter in various shades of vibrant purple (the color that signifies royalty) with Wakandan hieroglyphs in golden threads woven along the center and sides. It had a halter silhouette with a sculptural gold collar.
Bassett wore Ramonda’s 3-D printed crown atop an isicholo, a traditional hat worn by married Zulu women. Carter worked with artist Julia Koerner on the 3D elements of the look, per Vogue.
As an accessory, the actress slipped on Ramonda’s striking gold jewelry. Designed by Douriean Fletcher, the pieces include earrings and an embellished collar.

Bassett, whose work on the film earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2023, walked during the Afrofuturism portion of the show, which focuses on how Carter and others have reinterpreted traditional African garments for film.
Carter’s redesign led to her becoming the first black costume designer to win an Academy Award when she took home the Oscar for Black Panther. She then went on to win another for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, for.
Vogue World: Hollywood marks the fourth edition of the fashion event, which made its debut in 2022 following the covid-19 pandemic. The show was held in London in 2023 and Paris in 2024, where a fashion opening ceremony was held on Place Vendôme with over 500 models.
This year, Vogue World served as a love letter to Hollywood. Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo created an eight-piece Vogue World: Hollywood capsule honoring the iconic LA landmarks, which will also be available for purchase.
The night honors the rich dynamic between film and fashion and 100% of ticket proceeds go to the Entertainment Community Fund, focused on supporting costume professionals affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
It’s A-list to say the least with performances by Doja Cat and Gracie Abrams. Also, Cynthia Erivo, Hailey Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Karol G, Ayo Edebiri, Dakota Johnson, Gwyneth Paltrow all stepped out for the sartorial event.
