Comedian, 37, addressed the news under “Cultural impact: How history, style and strategy form what is the next” panel on 2025 Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City on Wednesday, September 17. When she reflected on memories from her seven seasons on the iconic Skisskomedi show, Nwodim revealed where she plans to take her career next.

“There is so much I want to do and SNL Is always supposed to be a running wide, “she explained.” There are so many ideas that I need time to create. I look forward to doing it. So direct, more writing in a different capacity. Very excited. It’s an exciting thing. ”

She also shared some of her favorite memories behind the scenes, including a time when she received an NSFW note that informed her that a shit she and she Leslie Jones Did had been scrapped by the standard team.

Nwodim announced that she was leaving the long -lasting series on Friday 12 September. She first went for her 44th season 2018 as a player and later promoted to the main crew in 2020.

In an interior InstagramNwodim thanked the creator of the series Lorne Michaels And everyone else who was on the trip with her.

“The most difficult part of a fantastic party is to know when to say good night,” she wrote. “But after seven unforgettable seasons I have decided to leave SNL. I am extremely grateful for Lorne for the opportunity, to my peers, the authors and the crew of their brilliance, support and friendship. ”

“Week after week at that stage, I taught me more than I could ever have imagined, and I will carry these memories (and that laugh) with me always ✨ING,” she concluded. “Now invite me to your weddings thank you !!!”

Her departure followed several of the show’s other stars that made the same move. Devon WalkerThe Emil WakimThe Michael Longfellow and Heidi Gardner also recently announced their outputs from SNL.

Last month, Michaels revealed that there would be major changes in role to “Shake Things Up” during the new season, which premieres in October.

“I wanted people to come back and be a part of (the 50th season),” said Mogul, 80. “And that meant there could not be that kind of disturbance or something that would focus on (the 50th season).”
