Police are looking for a woman after walking into a river in Washington with her dog on Sunday, March 23.
On March 24, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department announced in a press release That a 28-year-old woman was missing after falling in the coal river under the Fairfax bridge the day before.
“On March 23 around 12.00, a woman and her dog both entered the coal river under the Fairfax bridge,” read the release. “A beloved witnessed that she was swept away in the heavy stream had tried to grab her before being swept away.”
The authorities added, “Our Swift Water Rescue and Search and Rescue Rope Techs responded to the site. Due to the nature of the rough terrain and a 50 feet Kanyon was used drones to search the river down by the subject and her dog.”
The police found the dog alive around a quarter mile downstream, before canceling the search at 18:13 due to the weather, the terrain and darkness.
“Deputies have continued the search using drones this morning and the search and rescue assignment has been moved to a recovery assignment,” the release ended.

According to ABC Newsthe woman – who has been named Zuleika Witron – wandered with her Girlfriend and two dogs at the time of the event.
The outlet reports that the police continued to search 1.5 miles along the river for Witron after her dog was found.
People have reached Pierce County Sheriff’s Department for further comments.

An American Coast Guard helicopter was also on the way to the stage but “visibility became too limited to work safely,” says police Per ABC News.
“My sister and her girlfriend had their dogs with her, and my sister’s dog slipped on the bank, and my sister was enough to help her (dog) and they dropped his foot and slid into the river,” told the victim’s sister, Kiara Witron to Seattle ABC Affiliate Enter.

According to the outlet, the police said that the victim’s girlfriend went 10 to 15 minutes from the stage so she could get service to use her phone and demand help.
ABC News reported that if the weather permits, the authorities will try to get “air assets to investigate the canyon” for Witron.
