Two teenagers were found dead in a remote area in Arizona earlier this week, and the authorities are now investigating their deaths as a possible murder.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said that 18-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud and a 17-year-old boy were found dead from gunshot wounds early on Tuesday, May 27 in the Mount Word area, according to Fox Affiliate KSAZ-TV and ABC Affiliate KNXV TV. While the authorities did not reveal the boy’s name, friends have since identified him as Evan Clark, according to both stores. Per AzfamiljSheriff’s Office has launched a murder investigation.
In a statement to People on Sunday, June 1st, a MCSO speaker said that the office “actively worked in this case”, which involves “two victims that tragically lost their lives due to gunshot injuries.”
“MCSO is seeking the help of society,” the statement continued. “If you have any information – no matter how small – it may be relevant to this case, we strongly encourage you to arrive. Your help may be critical for getting answers and justice to the victims and their families. You can remain anonymous.”
By inviting everyone with information to contact MCSO Tip Line on 602-876 tips, Sheriff’s Office added: “We thank you for your continued support and collaboration as we work to ensure security and well-being in our society.”

Per ABC NewsMcSo initially responded to a conversation in the Mount Word area, which lies between the cities of Mesa and Payson, before located the “two deceased individuals.” The teenagers went on a camping trip in Memorial Day Weekend at Tonto National Forest and did not return, according to Ksaz.
The couple’s friends have since set up a memorial overlooking Camelback Mountain, where the two would often watch the sunset with friends, Ksaz reported.
Kylie Wlattim, a colleague of one of the victims, called the news “shocking”, while Clark’s colleague Iara Rosales said that teenage life was “cut very short.”
“And so was Pandoras,” she told Ksaz. “They were very young, and it was just as suddenly and a tragedy that you wouldn’t even imagine.”
Gofundme campaigns have since been established for both families to both Dress Rud and Wiser. Kjolsrud’s loved ones described her as someone with “a lively personality” and “an infectious smile that gave pleasure for so many”, while Clark’s collection contained a message from his mother, Sandra Malibu Sweeney, who remembered him as “fun, light, kind and entrepreneur.”
Kjolsrud was a musician who played violin, cello and guitar per her collection. She was also lovers of outdoors who liked camping, riding, kayaking and hiking. She “never failed to stop and greet any dog that she passed on her hikes and walks in the neighborhood,” said the Gofundme description.
Kjolsrud’s mother told KNXV that her daughter “had an unusual ability to make every person she met feel special and loved.”
“She was a friend for many and a beloved daughter,” the mother said. “She lived life in a big way and was always up for an adventure. She loved hiking and camping, and her favorite place on earth was Camelback Mountain.”

In another statement to the outlet, a representative of the teenager’s broader family asked for integrity, thanked society for their support and revealed that they worked closely with law enforcement and had “full belief that justice will serve.”
“This collection is organized to allow Pandora’s family to mourn the unthinkable loss of their daughter without worrying about financial burden,” said Kjolsrud’s Gofundme description. “All funds collected will be deposited directly into an account that is only available by Pandora’s mother and father, and ensure that every contribution goes to support them during this incredibly difficult time. While burial services will be private, the family plans to keep a community celebration of life in the coming months so that anyone who loved pandora can gather.”

Clark’s mother described her late son as her only child who was “about to become a wonderful man.”
“Evan wrote me a letter, of which the last he gave me on Mother’s Day which was so moving that it made me both laugh and cry. He was special. He deserved a long life,” Sweeney wrote.
Clark, who worked at Crumbl -cookies, liked concerts, photography, cars and took trips to Malibu, California, his mother wrote. She added that he “flourished socially” during his last school year at Arcadia High School (AHS).
According to KNXV, AHS sent a letter to families confirming that two students had died and that the sheriff’s office investigated. The school will offer advice and support services.
“The outcome of concerns from these communities has been so much due to me,” Clark’s mother wrote. “I sincerely thank every person who has stretched to offer compassion and sympathy. The kindness I have shown has touched me a lot. Thanks everyone.”
She ended her Gofundme description with a quote: “Release the past, release the future, release the present and cross to the long beach. With the mind and the body is liberated, you should not suffer anymore.”
The collections for Clark and Kjolsrud have since collected almost $ 15,000 and $ 18,000 respectively.
McSo said in a statement to ABC News that it is now focused on “conducting a comprehensive and careful investigation to ensure justice for the victims and their loved ones.”
“We coordinate close to our law enforcement partners and ask for patience and respect for the investigation process as we work through facts,” the sheriff’s office.
