At least 14 people have reportedly died after a hotel fire in India.
According to CBS newsSenior police mano Kumar Verma told reporters that the fire took place on Tuesday, April 29 at the Rituraj Hotel in central Kolkata.
Telegraph India Reports that the fire began around 19:30 local time and was not under control until eight hours later.
According to BBCAuthorities still conduct rescue operations.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The leaves were reportedly released by six fire trucks per CBS news.
People have contacted the Kolkata Police and Rituraj Hotel for comments.
According to Telegraph India, 10 men, a woman, a 10-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl died in the fire, while another person died after falling from the building while trying to escape.

The outlet reports that there were 88 guests at the hotel, which reportedly have 42 rooms.
The police have reportedly identified eight of the victims so far. Three members of a family of five from Chennai were also reportedly among the deceased.

In the meantime, Telegraph India Reports that among those rescued from the building, 13 people became ill and taken to the hospital.

The outlet adds that a Kolkata police confirmed that only one person was still in the hospital.
A guest from Mumbai, named Shyam, had also fallen asleep in his room and was found alive by firefighters almost four hours after the incident. According to Telegraph India, A special investigative team is formed by the Kolkata Police to investigate the cause of the fire.
“The police will take action against all persons or persons who are guilty of negligence,” Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim told reporters.
The state fire ministers, Sujit Bose, also reportedly blamed the hotel for carelessness in fire safety measures.
“The entire building was covered with glass. There was no outlet for the fire and the smoke that suffocated the guests. The heavy glass panes had to be broken for the firefighters to come in. Measures will be taken against the owners,” he said.
