A Maryland family grief after a ten-year-old girl died of complications of influenzaJust a few days after being dismissed from the hospital.
Minka Aisha Greene, a healthy and active elementary school student, was considered to be the “light” in her family. So when the 10-year-old began to have low energy and lack of appetite at the end of January, her mother Kymesha Green White was immediately worried.
“We noticed that her behavior changed because she does not normally get sick. This was like her first time got sick, ”Kymesha told DC News now.
Kymesha took her little girl to the emergency room and Minka was diagnosed with the flu and one out. She got ibuprofen and sent home to rest. But Minka started complaining about a headache so her mother took her back to you. During the second visit, she got fluids and was sent home again to rest.
Minka’s health finally took a trip to the worse on the morning of February 6, when Kymesha found her daughter vomiting in bed.
“I heard her scream,” Mom! “And I am,” What’s wrong? “It was when she said she couldn’t feel her legs and her feet,” she remembered.

Kymesha and her husband David White rushed their daughter, who had not had the flu vaccine, to the hospital. She told Capitol Height’s daily voice that on the way there, one of her daughter’s eyes rolled on the back of her head and her tongue began to move uncontrolled.
Shortly after coming to the hospital, Minka stopped breathing. The doctors performed CPR and other life -saving procedures, but the parents were later told that their daughter had no brain activity.
“It was the last time I carried her, the last time I held her in my arms. I will protect it for the rest of my life, ”David said.
Minka later died on February 10 at the hospital. “We had to release our child,” Kymesha said.
After Minka’s death, the family learned that she had severe brain inflammation caused by the flu. They now share their story in the hope of warning other parents. “Proponents for your children,” Kymesha said. “When they say they hurt, tell the doctors.”
